WHERE IT STARTED
Chris grew up on a grain farm near Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia
It was here he begun his riding career on a naughty pony called Clancy he got for his 3rd birthday. When he was 6 Chris was given a pony called Spice who was to
really kick-start his eventing career. While his older brother, Karl, now a professional campdrafting and cutting rider, was out helping muster cattle, Chris was busy building jumps using bricks and broomsticks for Spice to jump.
In 1994 Chris did his first EFA event on Just Joshin. Shortly after Chris started riding his first real super star, Deo Juvante . ‘Deo’ and Chris rose through to 5**** and from here Chris has not looked back.
Chris's 5* wins include Adelaide in 2008 on Newsprint and again with TS Jamaimo in 2013 and a win at Burghley in 2016 with Nobilis 18.
Other 5* highlights include 2nd at Adelaide with Newsprint in 2010. In 2015 4th at Luhmuhlen with Graf Liberty and 3rd and 4th at Burghley with TS Jamaimo and Haruzac. In 2018 9th in Kentucky with Nobilis 18. And another good year in 2019, claiming 3rd and 4th at Badminton with Cooley Lands and Graf Liberty and 2nd at Pau with Quality Purdey.
Chris has represented Australia at the World Equestrian Games in 2010 (Holstein Park Leilani), 2014 (TS Jamaimo) and 2018 (Cooley Lands) and at the Olympics in 2012 (Holstein Park Leinlani), 2016 (Santano II - Team Bronze) and had 6 horses qualified for the 2020 Olympics.
